Turning 16 in a young girl’s life is just as memorable as her wedding day. It is the time in a girl’s life where she feels like a woman. There are many areas to discuss when planning your sweet 16 bash. The party should be a representation of the “guest of honor’s” personality and interests.

LOCATION AND TIME: The first task the family should decide on is where and when the party will be.  Touring various locations such as banquet and event halls may help you see which fits your plan.

Depending on your budget and the amount of guests you will be inviting, choose a location where there is enough room for the guests to dance and move around. Some birthdays do fall around busy times so make sure to book the location months in advance. Before sending out invitations, you can even do a save-the-date email blast or cards in the mail. A fun idea could be having unique, non-alcoholic specialty drinks to add a little sparkle to your menu.
Some fun ideas for your party can include a candy bar, dessert bar, s’mores bar, waffle and ice-cream bar etc.

TIMELINE: An itinerary for the Sweet 16 is very important because it lays out the timeline for the party. The itinerary should involve, for example, when the party will start, when music will be played, if you are doing a candle ceremony, when food will be served, any activities that are planned, and when the party will end.
